Keynote Speaker

President and Chief Executive Officer of CMS Energy Corporation and Consumers Energy Company

Patti Poppe is President and Chief Executive Officer of CMS Energy, based in Jackson, Michigan, and its principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy, Michigan’s largest utility and the nation’s fourth-largest combination utility. Consumers Energy provides electricity and natural gas to 6.7 million of Michigan’s 10 million Lower Peninsula residents. She was elected to this position in July 2016.


Poppe held a variety of automotive management positions and served as power plant director at DTE Energy, based in Detroit, Michigan, before returning to her hometown of Jackson to join Consumers Energy in 2011.


Poppe earned a master’s degree in management from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University.


As President and Chief Executive Officer, Poppe has focused on connecting the company more closely with its customers and adapting lean operating system principles throughout the utility.

Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Energy and Senior Operating Partner of Activate Capital

Mr. Woolard has more than 20 years of experience as an executive in the energy technology sector. Mr. Woolard previously served as the President and CEO of BrightSource Energy, where he led the development of the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System in California’s Mojave Desert. He also served as CEO of Silicon Energy Corp, VP of Energy at Google, and headed the Energy Management Solutions Group at Itron Inc. He brings extensive experience in developing clean energy projects, a technological background in software and grid modernization solutions, and is well versed in California’s regulatory goals.


Mr. Woolard has been a director of PG&E Corporation and Pacific Gas and Electric Company since October 2019. He also serves on the advisory board of the UC Berkeley’s Energy and Climate Initiative and is a Senior Fellow at the World Resources Institute and a Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute.

SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company Regulatory Affairs Program Specialist

Avrie Dunsmore is a Regulatory Affairs Program Specialist for SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company. She has been with SEMCO for over eight years in various capacities, currently working in the Regulatory Department managing and coordinating SEMCO’s Energy Waste Reduction programs. She graduated from Walsh College with a Bachelor in Business Administration degree and is in pursuit of a Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University. In her off-work time, Avrie enjoys spending time outdoors, boating in Lake Huron, biking, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

Kyle has extensive experience in Energy Efficiency program design, operations management, and business development to guide industry-wide change. He oversees and provides thought leadership in the development of utility program offerings for residential, small commercial, and multifamily customers and drives program development to make energy more affordable on a national scale. Kyle is particularly focused on the benefits and the impact energy conservation programs have at multiple levels: one family, one community, and one program at a time in the U.S. and Canada.

CLEAResult Director, Residential Solutions

Ms. Kemper is an Oregon-state registered Architect and building science expert who manages the design, development, and launch of energy programs and projects across the country.  With 18 years of experience in the building and energy efficiency industries, she leads the team that develops new solutions throughout all of CLEAResult's markets. She is an active member of the residential building industry nationally, and through her work on state and city zoning and code boards.  Ms. Kemper received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati, her Master of Building Science from the University of Southern California, and is a member of the AIA.

Senior Specialist in Customer Energy Integration at National Grid

Carolyn King is a Senior Specialist in the Customer Energy Integration (CEI) group for National Grid in New York. She joined National Grid as a consumer advocate, working directly with community-based organizations and social service agencies to provide services and support to low-income, payment-challenged, and special needs customers. Since then, she has supported a variety of residential and commercial and industrial energy efficiency programs and initiatives throughout the company’s service territories.

CLEAResult Director, Virtual Delivery

Seth brings years of commercial and residential construction experience along with a passion for energy efficiency and sustainable energy policy to his role at CLEAResult. In addition to leading virtual product development and deployment, Seth serves as a subject matter expert to drive innovation for residential programs including Home Energy Assessments, Multi-family Direct Install and eScore™. He regularly consults on the nature, scope and prioritization of future product features by establishing product specifications and requirements.

CLEAResult Sr. Director of SEM

Since 2009, Keri has designed, delivered and/or managed SEM programs for many clients including Energy Trust of Oregon, BPA, AEP Ohio, ComEd, Nicor Gas and BC Hydro. She is a professional engineer, Six Sigma Green Belt and Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems, as well as an accomplished presenter, author, facilitator and coach. Keri oversees the implementation and management of CLEAResult’s SEM offerings across North America, including the design, development and delivery of custom SEM engagements. Keri has delivered more than 100 workshops on a variety of continuous improvement subjects and created a collection of activities and materials proven to engage end users and help them identify and manage their own energy savings.

CLEAResult Director Media and Automation

Harish is a demand gen leader with several years of experience in advisory and consultant roles to marketing organizations with a specific focus on omni-channel marketing demand generation campaign design, execution, and optimization. He has consulted regularly with several utilities' marketing organizations over the past few years and helped them build successful innovative demand gen strategies. Harish's past experience includes several large global organizations including Dell and ADP. He holds a Master of Science in management information systems from Texas A&M University, College Station, and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering.

Program Director

Clayton joined CLEAResult in 2014. He currently manages all of CLEAResult’s implementation contracts with Xcel Energy, as well as managing several other clients located in Colorado. His portfolio includes programs focused on commercial, industrial, and residential customers while delivering in-field services, midstream, and retail program designs. His experience includes energy efficiency field work for Conservation Services Group and Sustainably Built, both of which have since been acquired. Clayton completed a master’s degree in Global Energy Management from CU Denver and completed his bachelor’s degree at Middlebury College.

Senior Strategic Energy Management Coach  

Patrick has more than 10 years of experience in organizational change, project management, and leadership development. As a senior strategic energy management (SEM) coach, he works with organizations to apply the principles of continuous improvement to energy management and helps participants drive behavioral and operational changes through a holistic approach to achieving energy savings. The SEM approach is personal and long term, and Patrick works with a wide range of customers to implement innovative operations and maintenance programs that drive energy efficiency. He is CLEAResult’s lead on the Department of Energy’s 50001 Ready program and is working with SEM teams and organizations across North America to achieve 50001 Ready recognition.
